Paramaribo Tours

A short, honest list: every Suriname tour you can book online today, and the best add-ons across the borders.

Suriname is one of the least-visited countries in South America, and its online tour catalogue reflects that. GetYourGuide currently lists seven Suriname products. We show every one of them here, with what each is actually good for — and we do not pad the list with tours that do not exist.

What you can book ahead covers the essentials well: a private walking tour of the UNESCO inner city, two different outings to the plantation district of Commewijne, a three-day all-inclusive trip into the interior, a private airport transfer and a small workshop for a rainy afternoon. Everything is booked through GetYourGuide, with live availability and free cancellation on most options. Prices are indicative “from” figures in euros — tap any card for the live price in your own currency.

What is not online: day trips to Brownsberg, turtle tours to Galibi, river-lodge stays on the Upper Suriname River, sunset dolphin boats and bike hire for Commewijne are mostly sold by local operators in Paramaribo. Our destination guides explain how each of those works so you can arrange them on the spot.

Good to know

Paramaribo tours: FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Why are there so few Paramaribo tours online?

Suriname receives relatively few international tourists and most local operators sell directly, by phone, WhatsApp or through hotels. The handful of products on GetYourGuide are the ones with online booking and free cancellation; for everything else, allow time in Paramaribo to arrange it.

Which tour should I book first?

If you want one guided experience, choose between the private heritage walking tour of the inner city and the Commewijne coffee and plantation day. If you arrive at night, pre-book the airport transfer too.

Can I visit the rainforest on a day trip?

Brownsberg is possible as a long day from Paramaribo, though an overnight is better. The Upper Suriname River, Galibi and the Central Suriname Nature Reserve all need at least two to four days. The three-day interior tour on this page is the only multi-day trip you can book through GetYourGuide.

Are prices per person?

Most are. The private walking tour and the airport transfer are priced per group or vehicle, which we mark on the card. Always check the live price and group size on GetYourGuide before paying.

Can I cancel?

At the time of writing all the Suriname products listed here showed free cancellation on GetYourGuide, usually up to 24 hours before the start. The exact conditions are shown on each listing before you pay.
